An experimental wheated porter, this beer was not named after the city in Iraq; instead, it was named for a local area nursing home with an all-too-appropriate moniker.. (bag-dad)

beer pours the blackest brown with edgy porterish quality to the appearance. bubbly, smooth sludge of beigeness sits comfortably on top.. mountains of tan lace abound.
essential roastiness in the aroma. smoky with fire-charred vanilla bean husks and the faintest hint of black cherry brandy. nestle quik rounds out the sniffing party here.
sparky body, nice fizz. an immediate tartness exists in the flavor.. followed up by fresh-berry african coffee character. dry finish with fresh-milled grain and earth tones providing the malty texture and sweetness to the taste. this is counterbalanced nicely by a deliciously fruity wheat-malt presence.
complex and entirely too drinkable for a beer that approaches 7%.
