Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Part of the Porter Tasting Event. The beer pours a cola brown color with a dense creamy beige head of 1 cm. This fades to a sturdy edge layer quickly with a few streamy wisps on the surface.
The aroma is some roasted malt notes and dark chocolate with faint hints of vanilla and a little brown sugar too. Nose is pretty mild but fitting for the style.
First sip reveals a medium body with smooth texture and fine slightly tingly carbonation. Definitely leaves my tongue tingling after each sip.
Flavor is similar to the nose advertising, with some dark chocolate and roasted notes, almost a bit of char actually. Not really any vanilla on the flavor profile, but there is a bit of a caramel note here that does add a bit of sweet balance. Hops dont really show through on this beer. I do find it very drinkable and approachable. Glad I have a few more cans of this one down stairs for later, another solid easy drinking porter for this weekend!
