On tap. Pours a dark brown rusty color with a medium sized head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of tropical fruits, malt, grain, and citrus hops. Taste is like a bready orange peel flavor with some tropical notes in the background. Slightly bitter. Somewhat light of a mouthfeel. Overall its nicely drinkable with a fair amount of flavor and hops.

Arrives a dark copper color with a low frothy head that sinks quickly but leaves rings and legs of lace. Low aroma of mischief malt and grassy hops. Rich flavor of grainy malt, semi toasty, lots of caramel and toffee, laced with piney and floral hops. Well balanced. Seems more like a hoppy strong ale. Even mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, slight warming of the cheeks. Tasty brew, very drinkable.

On tap at the pub 2/2/11, an unfortunate night of Uconn defeat at the hands of Syracuse (and their extremely creepy mascot).

Hoda is a"Double Rye IPA", with NYC influence from their favorite morning host.

There was no head when the beer finally arrived at our table, service being exceptionally slow with the pre-game crowd shoved in the bar area. I was mildly surprised by how dark this beer was, I assume from the heavy dose of rye. Slightly hazy, rich mahogany brown, it could pass for a brown ale.

The nose was a touch sweet and grassy, the rye definitely coming through with the hops adding a mildly herbal quality. The hops in this bring forth the bitterness and a touch of pine, but it is the rye and malt that take over in the end.

This is one of the better beers I have had at City Steam, definitely one I would order again. I could have had two, but I think two would be the most. The beer is on the heavier side for body and the flavors are very rich. Good job City Steam!
