certainly the most basic and conventional of the beers we had in here, a balanced amber type, rich on the grain side and with some lift from the hops on the back end, somewhat more flavorful than many in this style, but thats not saying a whole lot, and this remains one of the most approachable beers on their menu. its clear and has a short off white head on it. aroma of light metallics, cooked grain sugar, honey, red apple, and some citrusy hops, orange to me, some sweetness throughout it, but not sugary at the finish, the yeast cleans it up pretty well. i like the way the hops come in here, gives this a little needed flavor twist and kind of adds some freshness to the whole thing so its not all malt the whole way. a little weirdness in the fermentation profile, less severe than in some of the others in here, but a sort of chemical zizzle to the end of it thats out of place. interestingly fruity as it warms, a little heavy in the belly, but overall pretty tasty, a vienna malt sort of finish. if some of the more ambitious beers seem intimidating here, start with this one, its just a beer...
