Appearance - Pours a jet black with a finger of mocha tan head.
Smell - earthy and leafy hops, bourbon, oak, vanilla, orange peel, roasted malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - earthy and leafy hops upfront. The bourbon and oak are very minimal which is quite disappointing. The orange peel is there followed by the roasted malts. The earthy yeast rounds out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes slightly chewy with the roasted malts lingering.
Overall - A disappointing brew that didn't quite the meet the expectation of a true "old fashioned". All other elements were done well but I was expecting more bourbon and orange peel in the taste.

2022 version hits exact style, orange, chocolate, bitter.
