Very dark brown, verging to black, pour with near three fingers of creamy tan/light brown head. Looks gorgeous.
Aroma of toasty malt but on head there is a significant smokiness - more campfire than meaty - this diminishes as warms. Roasty coffee, dark chocolate, a bit of caramel and molasses, and leather.
Tastes of roasty smoked malt, a bit of leather, coffee and hints of dark chocolate. There is a bit of licorice and molasses and herbal hop bitterness at the back.
Bright and lively light end of medium mouthfeel - brisk carbonation - lingering dry and slightly bittersweet finish.
Smoky but should not deter the smoke averse.
