16oz tallboy can received courtesy of Jay O'Rear. I've not heard of Little Log Cabin before receiving this. From what I gather, it's an offshoot of Tired Hands. That's a helluva good pedigree to flow from. According to the stamp on the bottom of the can, this was can on March 11th, 2021.
Poured into a shaker pint glass, this was an opaque, light yellow color, with a half-inch of off-white foam perched on top that recedded but never went away. Goodly amounts of lace were left on the sides of the glass as the beer was consumed.
Citrusy and sweet aroma, in that order. Grapefruit and orange aromas predominate. I feel like I get a tiny whiff of something akin to vanilla as well, but it's extremely restrained.
More complex in the taste than in the nose, there's an exuberant citrusyness up front that reminds one of fresh oranges, but also carries flavors of melons and tropical fruits. Midway through, there's a bitter dash of grapefruitiness and a bit of pine to throw up some contrast and keep things from getting cloying, and a tiny bit of sweetness that just barely reminds me of vanilla. Finish is slightly dry.
Creamy, luxuriant mouthfeel. Reminds me of the late, lamented (but rumored to be re-born) oatmeal pale ale from Fort George.
This is lovely. I feel like I could easily have several. I realise, now, that the creaminess wasn't entirely down to the use of oats in the grain bill, but was abetted by lactose, which is also where I probably got the impression of vanilla from. I'd absolutely drink this again. Thanks, Jay!

L - 1-finger dense yellowish head atop an opaque yellow body.
S - pungent grapefruit, strong herb, tangerine.
T - incredibly dank. Citrus flavors are overwhelmed by the liquid weed taste. Melon, grapefruit, pineapple, and orange are there but obscured. Low bitterness. Low sweetness. Low booziness.
F - medium body and carb.
O - too dank to truly enjoy.

Poured from a tallboy can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Hazed golden juice pour. Thick fluffy white head... crazy good lacing.
S: Tropical fruit juice... citrus and pineapple.
T/F: Just like it smells. Big time juice... sweet up front with melon, guava, pineapple, and mango. Lighter grapefruit and citrus follow... modest bitterness. Complex mixture of fruits... sticky on the tongue. Creamy mouthfeel. ABV super hidden.
O: A world class DIPA... one of the best I've ever had. Phenomenal.... a beer to seek out, and very lucky to have walked into some cans at Tired Hands.
