For a modern American India Pale Ale, this has an interesting look. All the contents of a pint can are now within the confines of a clear glass liter mug. Surprisingly, there was no massive, ever-expanding starch-white foam. Instead, there was a modest and short-lived off-white head. This goes past opaque, dense and cloudy, it's murky dark dirty blond. It has a sharp hop aroma ahead of an earthy malt one. With the earthy malt contributing so much, it's hard to determine a reference for the hops, maybe citrus, maybe piney? This has a bold flavor that includes the earthiness of the malt and some citrus from the hops. But there's more, as something from the hops also make this one of the downright dirty earthy beers out there. This isn't a thirst quencher, it's a taste quencher. The malt backbone is enough for the body and some bitter hop counterbalance, but this one is all in on earthy hopping. Not much for a sustained head, nor glass lacing, this is one that tastes much thicker than it feels. Never sharply bitter, dank is the word here.
