Look - poured into a tulip glass. Deep ruby red, though still clear. small head with just some lacing. Beer appears to be less "heavy" than I would have imagined from a barrel-aged product.
Smell - oak, vanilla, honey-like sweetness, with plenty of cherries. booze is detectable from the smell. overall pleasant, and the potency of the beer does not hide itself at all...
Taste - surprisingly light on the palate. there's a bit of taste from the barrel-aging process, but overall, the beer actually retains most of its profile (compared to the unaged version), including the initial fruity tastes to the dry (and warm) finish. the woody tastes comes towards the beginning, complementing the cherry flavor well.
Feel - medium bodied, high carbonation, and no joke at 14% ABV.
Overall - this isn't as heavy of a beer as I would have imagined from a barrel aged product, but that is by no means bad. very drinkable, and the barrel aging gives the originally very fruity beer a nice smoky complement.
