A metric ton of Michigan-grown Montmorency cherries mesmerize in this lip-smacking Kriek. Divided up, that equals 4 lbs. of cherries in each gallon of this profoundly tart, deep crimson brew. A wild yeast fermentation and aging for two years in French oak delivers a subtle funk accompanied by intense notes of sour cherry.

Look: It pours a slightly dark reddish pine with a pink head. Head retention is average.

Smell: It has strong aromas of tart cherries. It has moderately tart notes. It has accompany notes of hay and earthly elements. There are low levels of barnyard notes as well.

Taste: It is moderately sour with tart cherries being featured in the initial flavor. The barnyard elements are a bit more prominent in the flavor with light earthly notes.

Feel: It has a medium light body with medium sourness in the finish and it's dry. There is no sweetness evident.

Overall, a flavorful lambic with many of the classic Belgium characteristics.

Had on tap. Pours slightly hazy, cranberry in color with one third inch head. Taste is canned cherry pie filling and a touch of crust. Light bodied, sweet, moderate carbonation. Makes for an enjoyable treat. Perfect Autumn beer. Would get again.

Had on tap. Dark ruby red body with a pinkish white collar. Smells is sweet and tart cherry to the face, with some lingering funk, oak, and residual wheat. Taste is also very cherry forward, and it is delicious, tart, and refreshing. Has funk, but seems young, want more, but man is it delicious. What sets this apart from other american kriek lambic attempts however is the feel, dry and tart, funky and wood laden, and generally delicate and beautiful. While the taste and smell, though delicious, lack the underlying complexity, the feel completely delivers!
