Monstrous in taste, monstrous in texture, monstrous in strength, there's simply nothing that this stout is not monstrous about. Now, what to name such a pistachio, vanilla, imperial stout?
Black and pouring like molten tar, Monstro hits the nose with... you guessed it, a monstrous scent of sweet char, cream, coffee, chocolate, nuttiness and vanilla. Sultry in its initial taste, the luscious sweetness is of molasses, heavy cream, condensed milk, cake batter and honey with dessert-like intensity.
As the stout batters away at the middle palate, the tastebuds saturate with malt sugars, sweet booze, milky roast and an all around culmination of java milkshake, kahlua, condensed milk and caramel machiato with an eggnog finish. Nutty, sweet, chocolaty and driven by a campfire roast, a peppery head rounds out the late palate in digestive fashion.
Lavishly full, creamy and velvety on the tongue, the beer is undoutedly cloying, but intended for slow sips through a few ounces for full appreciation. A long and roasty finish lingers deep into aftertaste with sweet and creamy char. The beer truly is a monster that has a friendly and inviting side.
