For a winter warmer the taste seemed muted at times. Taste is caramel, clove, cinnamon, and light brown sugar. Not bad, but I have had a lot better in the style.

12oz bottle served in a thistle glass
Medium caramel brown in the glass with a relatively thin head. The smell is pretty sweet, not really much in the way of grain or hops just a sweet caramel and maybe molasses. The taste is a bit off the mark as the malt isn't layered enough it seems one dimensional and the hops don't provide enough support to make this a better than average scotch style ale. There is also a bit of a weird metallic off flavor that is hard to place. Mouthfeel is a bit light as the body is moderate to light due to somewhat high carbonation. The alcohol is somewhat well hidden which is impressive but it becomes more noticeable as the beer warms. Overall this is just a bit better than average, I would have been happier had the malt been more layered and more upfront as it is its kind of like a amped up brown.

A-A forced pour gurgles out a clear copper body. Head is barely able to muster any cohesion. Very light lacing.

S-Very malty. A hint of metal. Brown sugar and molasses and dense caramel. Some biscotti. Maybe a faint whisper of hops. Actually more pleasant than I was anticipating.

T-The metal is pretty off-putting unfortunately. Beside that horrid tinny twang there is some decent stuff in there. A solid hit of green grassiness and herbal hops ushers in its deeply malted core. Too bad about that metal.

M-Fuller bodied. Tighter bubbles. Dry. Alcohol pops up but at 9%, I can't blame it.

O/D-Aside from the metallic flavor, this was pretty solid. Wouldn't mind it on draft.
