Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with a thin khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dry caramel and light biscuit malt, mild cinnamon, dark dried fruit. Flavor is dry caramel malt, dates, fins, cinnamon and a touch of coffee. Holiday spice finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A classic tasting, solid winter warmer style ale with a German bock style body and appropriate spicing. Hard to pick out any particular spice, but the flavor is right for the season. Nice and malty. Looking forward to the barreled version; this seems like a nice base for barreling.
