16oz can
canned on 07?/09/20
L: hazed light amber body; frothy & sticky ivory head coats the glass in lacing
S: earthy pine, zesty grapefruit & orange, light caramel malt
T: hop forward with a decent malt backbone; earthy pine, grapefruit & orange zest, pungent earthy Simcoe, lightly carameled grain
F: fuller body, very resinous and dry, assertive bitter finish with pine lingering
O: love the hop profile with this one!

Canned 11/22/19; drank 12/29/19 @ the Yarchives.
See-through orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big white head; thick, frothy lace.
Pine, wheat, orange citrus & caramel notes in the nose.
Sticky medium mouthfeel.
Pine & orange citrus flavors up front; sticky caramel notes on the finish.
There's a reason we've moved on from this style of IPA; it's not that pleasant.

Hey! Hey Flap! Midwest IPA! Thanks Joe!
This Midwest IPA looks like the beautiful IPAs of old. Burnt blazing orange with minimal floaties and a spitty whit foam that retains lightly and applies spots of lace.
Even smells classic with a two tone approach of heavy citrus and pine. But, uh-oh... Is that a touch of butter?
Yup. It's a touch of butter, but not bombed by any means. In fact, it's almost like a by product of a light caramel time. Other than that, your classic flavors of grapefruit rind and a pinch of pine.
Lightly rich (oxymoron), smooth, and balanced. Barely hugs the bitter side of the spectrum.
Reminds me quite a bit of Kern River, Just Outstanding minus the toasted sesame. A pretty nice IPA, but could use some minor refinement. Cheers.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on November 28, 2019. Brewed with Amarillo, Citra, CTZ and Simcoe hops. Fermented cooler with a more neutral English Ale yeast. Very good west coast style.
