Cerveza Buenaventura “Wheat Beer”
33 cl brown glass bottle coded “Lote/Consumo preferente L-1TG5/23 OCT24” and sampled on 01.12.2023
€3,50 @ El Trébol, Toledo, ES on 01.12.2023
Notes via stream of consciousness: At first look I thought this was a Belgian-style witbier because it doesn’t look like a Hefeweizen but the label reads “weizenbier” and wheat is the first ingredient listed before barley. It pours a hazy golden body beneath a short head of white that holds for a moment and then drops leaving little lacing behind (dirty bar glass?). Wheaty malt appears in the aroma and flavor but there’s not really enough yeast flavor to clearly classify it as a Bavarian-style weizenbier. You can tell that there’s a little bit of banana and clove there but it’s more of a background note. It’s gently tart and lightly sweet with a moderate bitterness that lends it a dry finish. In the mouth it’s medium bodied and crisp with a standard carbonation level. It’s flavorful and refreshing but not brewed to style.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
