This is our take on an ancient version of a Finnish farm style ale. Brewed with juniper berries, rye and Citra hops, and fermented with Belgian yeast. Notes include slight hints of juniper, clove, pepper, banana and citrus.

-deep amber-mahogany tap pour with a 1 cm foamcap that quickly dissipated. The aroma is of all-spice. The flavor includes juniper, clove and some dried fruit. The finish is somewhat dry. Overall this is a pleasant and refreshing brew.

On draught at the brewery. Served with a wedge of lime. An orange-brown pour with a thin, ecru-colored head, it resembles iced tea. It has a fresh, fragrant nose featuring juniper, lemon, banana, rye, and clove along with a subtle whiff of banana. It's really aromatic. The taste is drier, and spicier, than other Sahti's I've tasted. The juniper berry really pops, and it's accompanied by citrus, dry rye, clove, and a touch of sweet banana. There is only a slight amount of bitterness from the Citra hops and it finishes with a noticeable dose of pepper. It's lite and crisp with lively carbonation, and is an easy drinker at 5.7% ABV. I'm impressed that a new brewery would undertake to brew a Sahti and even more impressed by how well they pulled it off. Chalk Outline is very good and worth seeking out.
