C5 Galaxy Double IPA

i think they were just calling this double ipa when i was in, unnamed at that time if i remember reading the menu right, but i assume this is the same beer now, and i really didnt pick up a whole lot of the galaxy hops on my own, it seemed mosaic driven to me, and relatively samey. it hides its alcohol well, which i guess might be its greatest positive, but it has that weird phenolic fermentation weirdness that their cream ale also had, and it turns me off a little bit, especially as this comes up to temperature. not sure why some of their beers had this going on and others did not, but i imagine this will get remedied next time they brew it, if they havent already. the mosaic adds pineapple and lemongrass notes to the hop profile which is nice, and i get some lime in here as well, a light tea bitterness, and a pinch of sweeter malts to balance. it seems like a fine recipe, just not quite there on the execution yet. a little heavy to drink with some haziness to it and a lot of body, as well as a bit of sugar in the finish. i wished for a more obvious galaxy hop profile here, but overall the beer still shows some promise...
