L- Very deep chestnut brown, clear (poured carefully, some sediment remained of the base of the bottle). A foam ring around the edge of the glass; I expect that the ABV% does not allow for more head to be sustained.
S- Deep malt and a mild cocoa note.
T- Wow, big! Quite rich, deep and powerful, into a notable dry-hoppy zing over the palate then a zingy lick of major ABV%, followed by a hoppy-dry sense remaining on the palate after swallowing.
F- It's very big and bold, but the hops are pretty full on which brings things into balance. It's still a beer for slow-sipping though; it's too intense to rush.
O- Might this be barrel-aged, that could explain to serious and highly visible ABV% here? I think it must be. It's interesting to try but despite having enjoyed beers before that have been up to 18.1%, this one has an unusually very prominent ABV which I suspect might prove a divider of opinion.
