Drank from a one pint - 16 fl. oz can purchased at Skygazer Brewing Co, Southington, CT
Served in a Rastal Harmony stemless beer glass
The murky looking, maroon body was topped by a two-plus finger-tall mass of salmon colored foam. Outstanding retention. The head ever-so-slowly dropped to a thick, chunky, lasting cap of large bubbles. A film of fruit purée residue coated the glass from top to bottom.
The aroma was pretty subtle initially but really intensified as the head receded. Raspberry was most prominent. Super fresh and bright. Citrus notes were also apparent. Tangerine perhaps. Some peach was also noticeable. Bit of tangy lime zest too.
The flavor profile was super bright and bracingly tart. Cranberry definitely came through strongest, followed by raspberry. Loads of zesty lime as well. Really sour and acidic overall. Passionfruit was also detectable. More lemon and lime on the back end and the finish. As the beer warmed, some peach appeared in the center.
Fuller bodied mouthfeel. Thick and pulpy. The liquid contained a larger bubbled carbonation that turned frothy, slick and smooth as it moved along the palate.
This quadruple fruited Watercolors anniversary release is a very nice beer, but the tartness from the lime, cranberry and passionfruit combination was a bit much all at once. Sometimes, even with Skygazer beers, less can be more.
