Served in a tulip
Solid appearance. The opaque, oxblood hued body was topped by a frothy, two-finger tall, light fuchsia crown that slowly dissolved. As the liquid receded, a wall of sediment coated the glass.
The aroma was fantastic. Raspberry notes dominated. Really fresh and bright. Moderately tart. Passionfruit was also noticeable. There was a bit of a tangy lime presence as well.
The flavor profile mimicked the nose. Raspberries came through big time. Super jammy and sweet. An interesting tropical fruit quality was apparent in the center, but I doubt I would guess passionfruit. Hint of cherry on the back end. Cherry cough syrup perhaps. Some tanginess (lime?) was noticeable on the finish.
Nice creamy, slick and smooth mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied for the style. The liquid contained a fine, fairly zippy effervescence that frothed up very nicely on the palate.
This is a fantastic Watercolors release with a huge raspberry presence and some nice accents from the cherry and passionfruit. Although the vanilla and lactose were lost on me, I did not miss them.
