Unlike many on here, I can't remember my first check-in because I've never done that before on any of the apps that everyone was on when they went out (pre-pandemic). That only made the name of this beer that much more humorous as I had no idea what to expect from this, and was confirmed that when it poured a deep berry red upon opening!
So this unique concoction had a pinkish head that didn't last long but was quite subdued as well given that I couldn't hear it settle down. as there was hardly any lacing left on the side of my pint glass aside from a few spots along the lower half of it. Cranberry, boysenberry, and blackberry in the nose along with some raspberry tartness and subtle vanilla as the berry was a bit more up-front in the taste. The sweetness from the maple tied everything in together as there was hints of graham cracker in the malt to give this body and tie everything in together. No malt and lively carbonation made this a true Berliner Weisse with some dark sediment at the bottom of the liquid and hints of pulp that emerged once this fully warmed up.
Yeah, this may have been strong for the style but I never felt the alcohol in this as I could have easily finished off another can after enjoying this one. Dated 11/4 on the bottom and obtained at ShopRite Liquors in Little Falls, this was a fun find that was my first beer from Skygazer. Nice to have this during a time of the year when heavier and holiday beers line the shelves, as this would be nearly perfect year-round. No doubt that this was fun stuff!
