Intensely smooth, tangy and tropical, the breweries of Skygazer and Tox team up to take the tastebuds on a tropical vacation. Laced with mango, pineapple, passionfruit, white chocolate and coconut and this collaboration sour ale has a little of everything.
The second edition of Water Lily pours with a matte finished golden straw while rising with an eggshell white foam. As the bubbles fade above the weight of the fruit, a soothing and zesty scent lingers in its wake. Full on tropical fruit with hints of vanilla cream lead to a smoothie accented perfume with hints of musty fruits. Sweeter and creamier in its early flavor, the beer leads with fructose, cereal, cream, sourdough and cookie dough.
A full and fruity flavor soon dominates the middle palate as the creaminess turns tropical with bold overtones of mango, pineapple and passionfruit with an undercurrent of cider, white wine, green berry and banana. Truly tropical, the fruits balance with the creamy sweetness of vanilla, sweet cream, macadamia and coconut even while the taste tries to tighten into a citrusy sour late palate of lime and orange.
Medium full in body, the beer's creaminess allows for balance against the clean acidity but also hinders the beer's dryness and refreshment. Somewhat of a dessert sour ale, the smoothie sour ale lingers with fruit pulp, peels, skins and piths for a peppery and dank fruitiness to follow.
