Picked this up like everyone else because it has carrot juice in it. Pours little to no foam now just a layer of orange juice pulp rimming the orange colored juice beer in front of me. Smells of mostly sour notes some vegital carrot and a bit of vanilla like sweetness. Taste is about what I expected a sour ale brewed with carrots not really getting anything else can't really taste any cream cheese but it does have a milk vanilla flavor that rounds out the sour. As expected for such a weird concept it works but I don't think its interesting enough to revist.

We've always said that "Beer is Food". But some brewers are taking that statement quite literal. Skygazer, Abomination and Branch and Blade brewers team up for the making of a carrot cake in a glass.

Their collaboration ale pours very dark brown and perhaps black in the right light, the mocha milkshake looking beer teases with a scent of fall spcies, caramel, cream, coffee, cocoa and a tingle of alcohol spice. Very sweet upon the taste, the Pastry Stout opens with chocolate, mocha milkshake, caramel, granola and brown sugar all equipped with a sugar glazing.

What starts rich, lavish and decadent continues its diabetes inducing sweetness on the middle palate, slathering the tastebuds with all things cake. With no real hints of carrot, the other pieces and parts of carrot cake are all represented- nutty, toasty, savory, creamy and sweet; and with its own side of coffee in tow. A warming spice of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and ginger link up with whisky warmth in a slight turn to balance with the beer's closure.

Full, cloying and richly textured, the beer shares a delicious dessert-like palate, but is hard to drink considering it a beer. Best served with a fork and knife, this beer may be served best on a plate.

Pours a fully opaque orange with a finger of white foam quickly settling to a lighter orange ring. Nose is raw carrot, cinnamon, and vanilla. Taste follows suit. Very much a raw carrot flavor, some sweetness coming through from the cream cheese I guess, a little apricot in the middle and finishing quite tart with some cinnamon undertone. Feel is full, thick, and chewy. Overall slightly above average.
