Minimal head production and retention; effectively a flat appearance.

Definitely a pastry stout on the nose, with just a hint of carrot and cinnamon. The predominant notes include chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, caramel, and cola.

Thick mouthfeel, but there's quite a bit of sting about the gums, and it's not as chewy as you might expect given the ingredients list.

Flavor is a mixed bag. The carrot, cinnamon, and granola don't quite jell with the overall flavor profile. It's nice that they are noticeable, given the name of the beer, but it just doesn't quite come together as a whole. Strong notes of prune, cola, and date; chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla, and cream are secondary, and should really be more front and center.

I think it's those sharper dark fruit notes that really throw this beer a touch off track. The carrot and cinnamon go quite well with the chocolate, cream cheese, and huge malt base, but there's too much fruity sharpness in this otherwise decadent and rich dessert stout. It's very good, but it's not amazing.
