Slicing, peeling and carving limes and cranberries is no easy task, so might as well crush them. And when they are in a sour ale, then that job gets considerably easier. ...and tastier!
Skygazer's cranberry and lime flavored Sour Crusher pours with peachy rouge appearance, foggy from its dense and fruity hazy. It's froth reveals a juicy, radiant and tantalizing citrus and berry scent that's tribute to the generous amounts of limes and cranberries added. A brisk sweetness of dough, fruit juices and taffy suggest that the malt come across as straight fruit juices.
As radiant as the beer opens with its full cranberry and lime focus, the sweetness lifts quickly on the middle palate to reveal an undercurrent of sourness that plays out like racy lemon, cider, gooseberry and wine. Although the sweetness slowly fades, its juiciness remains and brings a balance to the acidity while adding complexity to the red berry and tangy citrus focus. Trailing into a vinously tangy finish, the beer leaves impressions of strawberry and rhubarb on the late palate.
Medium bodied and trending dry, the base sourness leads the fruit addition with a tangy foundation for the fruit. Finishing fruity and briskly sourt, the ale extends into a medium length aftertaste of red berry, citrus, wine and peppery tartness.
