The place where the oceans meets the horizon is a special place, -a place apparently for cocktail influenced beer. At least that's what Skygazer brewers think when putting together a go-to ale made from banana, cherry and milk sugars.
Continuing to go to the Go-To's, the banana and cherry version pours rather muddy with a densely turbid rusty and mauve appearance and just as a tepid froth pulls from its murky body. But its beautiful scent rounds the nose with a candied sweet scent of citrus, berry and sweet cream. As its cereal-sweet taste coats the tongue, notions of sugar snaps, condensed milk, taffy and fruit glaze set an early malty tone.
As the creamy fruity slathers the middle palate, a true smoothie flavor comes with a tangy balance of tropical tartness, a red cherry tartness, cidery tanginess and a vinous spice that reads slightly like wine. As the cherries outlast the pineapple in a robust and juicy sourness, the late taste trends pleasantly acidic with a light peppery hop bite.
Full bodied for sour ale, the rich and rounded taste leaves the session as a sipper with a long sweet and sour interplay that extends on plushly on the palate. Although the banana flavors don't carry much of a palate impact, it does seem to detract from the other fruits and the sourness underneath.
