When the mindset is as much of nutrition as it is indulgence, then Skygazer has a go-to beer that fits the mood.
Although an ugly duckling when poured, the muddy, rusty and tarnish ale seems to shine bright with berry and stone fruit backed with cider, wine and citrus. With no real head formation or retention, thier Go To's Raspberry Peach version of watercolors bounces off the palate with the sweetness of cereal, sweet cream, honey and poundcake. As the fruits of raspberry and peach lead the way, the undercurrent of tartness brings hints of lemon, lime, green apple, gooseberry, white grape and passionfruit. Tartness balances the sweetness only so much as the ale falls full and fruity on the finish.
Full, creamy, densely packed yet off-cloying, the smoothie sour ale seems part pnk lemonade, part belini and all smoothie. It just doesn't pass the eye test.
