NA double IPA from two Roots. Label says they're using citra, simcoe, eureka and centennial lupulin hops. There's also a weird discrepancy where the front of the can reads 99 calories and then the nutrition facts claim 85. Whatever. It's not a huge difference either way and I frankly don't care; just noting it.
Maybe a finger's worth of bubbly, off-white head over a body that rather resembles an old school west coast IPA, which is what they're going for. Minimal lacing. Smell is a little underwhelming - wort-y, for starters, and the hops just smell odd. Or maybe they just don't play well with the wortiness. Either way, I'm not crazy about the smell. Tastes better than it smells. It's hoppy and resinous up front before the wort taste takes over. A citrusy hop bitterness lingers, however, and that helps in this case. Lively carbonation which I think should be requisite in all NA beers. You're not always going to be able to get the taste you're going for, but you can at least make it as crispy as you like. I have to kind of ignore the nose, but this isn't bad at all.
