My wife and I dropped in at Bastard Brew a few days ago while exploring Reykjavík. It’s a neat old place with very much a pub vibe: lots of dim nooks to have a drink or read your book or socialize. We took our seat and service was prompt and friendly, which was pretty typical of our experience in Iceland overall.
They have two house beers, an amber and a hazy IPA, both contract brewed by Malbygg in Reykjavík (at least, at the time of my visit), plus a dozen or so other taps featuring some mass-market beers as well as some more Icelandic craft beers. The house beers were pretty decent; neither totally blew me away but I’d order either one again. The hazy IPA was my favorite of the two.

Kicking myself for not trying this place sooner during my trip. One of the best bars I've ever been to
