Can from Whole Foods on the UES. Pours black with a finger of mocha head that sticks around, smell is dark roasted malts, crusty brown bread, hints of cocoa and chocolate cake, taste is canned Hersey’s syrup, roasted dark malts, chocolate chips, baking chocolate, cocoa, hints of cinnamon and coffee, feel is full bodied, creamy, sweet. A double chocolate chip Levain cookie dunked in a nice roasty stout.

Collab with Levain cookies. Got this as a gift for a friend and had to pick up a 4 pack for myself too.
Inky black pour with an off-white head that goes away pretty quickly.
Nose is primarily your typical roasty malt notes. A hint of cocoa in the background.
Taste is sweet at first but then with a nice malty bitterness in the middle with a hint of coffee. The chocolate comes through in the finish. It's definitely a "sweet" stout but nicely balanced and not overly sweet for me. Perfect amount of alcohol. It adds to the intensity of the flavor but not overwhelming at all.
Pastry stouts can easily get too syrupy but the mouthfeel on this is just about right. It's not too sticky and viscous but it coats the mouth really well with a decent amount of carbonation.
This is probably one of the better pastry stouts I've had. It has a noticeable sweetness and chocolatey flavor but still has the bitterness and roastiness you want from a stout. I've had more complex stouts definitely but this one doesn't need to be complex. I bet it'd be great alongside a giant, gooey Levain chocolate cookie.
