This raspberry & black currant Kettle Sour is inspired by our local wildlife observers down the road. It packs a big fruit flavor with a sour kick. It starts as a dark brown ale, then additions of raspberry add a fruit front with black currant and kettle sour kicking in tartness on the back to provide that big flavor.

The gem clear reddish copper beer causes the impression of Mt. Rainier to stand out on the bottom of the North pint glass. One inch of tight almond foam lasts two minutes without leaving any lace. One column of carbonation is formed by several streams that seem to bring the volcano back to life.

Despite being six months old, the blackberries and raspberries are strong and fresh in the aroma. The aroma has a sweet and tart edge.

The flavor opens with currants being most obvious and raspberries showing up late. Sweetness is secondary to the sharp tartness. Astringency holds it back a little. The finish is long, filled with currants and mild astringency.

It has a polished metallic texture and a light body. The alcohol is as expected, as is the fizzy carbonation and dry finish.

This is an enjoyable berry-infused beer. I imagine it would certainly be better suited to a poolside party or a garden party during the summer months. However, I enjoyed it very much on a cold and dark January afternoon.

Really nice sour! Deep rose colored pour, full fruity aroma, creamy mouthfeel. Raspberry and black currant flavor, very smooth and not overly sour. Hex and Hop also makes honey, so wondering if a wee bit of honey was added to mitigate the "wince?"
