A lovely IPA made with simcoe hops and balanced with a sweet pine flavor from fresh spruce tips harvested at budding season every year. Literally taste the forest of the Adirondacks. This one only comes around once a year, so enjoy it while you can. The perfect compliment for your trip to the mountains.

Pours clear, reddish copper (SRM 16-19). A thick, dense, white, two and a half inch head lasts several minutes before falling to a thick blanket. Patches of lace form clouds and loose rings on a Strangebird IIPA glass.
The aroma has strong pine tar and resin. Perfume wafts between cedar and spruce.
The flavor has a strong bitterness, sweetness tries to keep up but falls short. Pine resin fills the mouth, while caramel malt lingers in the background. The finish is long, modest, and earthy.
It has a medium body and stiff nylon texture. The alcohol is light, about as expected. It has a mild astringency and modest carbonation. Some residual sugar tries to build on the lips.
This one has a ton of earthy goodness. The spruce is less evident than I had hoped for, yet it is still very much present and enjoyable.

Well, a most unusual beer! Poured from a 16oz can dated 7/11/22. From the label “A lovely IPA made with simcoe hops and balanced with a sweet pine flavor from fresh spruce tips harvested at budding season every year. Literally taste the forest of the Adirondacks….” The taste of fresh spruce is really overpowering. Perhaps this might taste better in a few months, but at the moment this is either an acquired taste or just nasty. A four-ounce pour is worth trying, but not an entire pint. I will say the label is a cute nod to the Lord of the Rings.
