Pale gold, medium head, nice degree of carbonation, just the right amount of bitterness, at least for my taste. I drank a 16 oz draft today at Twin Barns, in Meredith, NH. I thought the beer was just shy of exceptional. I’ll definitely drink it again.

Draft: Poured a clear pale golden color lager with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cereal notes with some light residual sugar notes and dry hoppy notes. Taste is also a mix of cereal notes with some sweet notes and herbal hops notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. A little bit too sweet for the style but still quite refreshing.

A surprise to me, who of all lager styles least prefers PIlsner. I must say that is because whatever hop strain(s) they're using they are atypical of the style - lacking the sharp/crisp peppery bite (that I can't stand), so this is closer to a helles in its bready semi-sweet flavors and not-so-dry finish. Good stuff.

Headed on back down to Twin Barns, a new favorite of ours on the rainy eve of what turned out to be a great weekend. Not much else to say about the Belknap Pils — smooth and gold with a silky smooth head washed down a Lake Cruiser DIPA and hot salted pretzel quite nicely. Pours like a pilsner, drinks like one too. With 60 degrees and rain all day, I didn’t feel like I needed refreshing, but somehow this managed to refresh me all the same. Can’t wait to head back soon!
