It's dark caramel colored, like a cola soda. The pour to empty all of the contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug went well. There was only a modest and tightly knit and vaguely beige head produced. The aroma is unmistakably of porter's roasted barley malt. This drinks no better than an ordinary porter, maybe even less. The body is thin, although not intolerabley so. But, it's even shorter on flavor, as the roasted malt and whatever minimal hops that join into the overall taste fall short of desirable. This becomes so lacking in taste at the finish, it almost could pass for a malty adjunct lager. There's very nice glass lacing, if that's important to anyone. But, that doesn't mitigate the thin body and taste unexpected from this style. Maybe it's not terrible, but it's not good. The best thing about it is that at 4.8% ABV, there's an opportunity to chase it with something else.
