Pours viscous and creamy, very dark brown, nearly black. Chocolate, toasty roasty nose. You get coffee but it's not overwhelming. Big roasted backbone, with some bitter and sweet hints, but not much maple taste in my opinion. Plenty of body without being syrupy.

Appearance: Pours a chocolate fudge color with a some bubbles forming from the splash and quickly fading to a collar; leaves a film rather than lacing
Smell: Chocolate fudge and strong black coffee with the maple adding sweetness to the aromatics
Taste: Chocolate fudge and maple forward with the coffee emerging powerfully in the mid-palate; a wallop of coffee emerges, in the middle, and the finish is more of a clash than a complement of all the flavors
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with low carbonation
Overall: This beer has strong flavors and many will like that; I just feel it is a bit too angular with each flavor making an individual statement rather than creating a complementary whole
