Minutiae is our showcase of simple, straight-forward, but well-thought-out recipe design, thoughtful and extensive barrel-aging and careful blending. Minutiae 2020 takes base imperial stout recipes that were aged in a variety of whiskey casks for twelve to eighteen months. The result is a complex layering of flavors of chocolate, vanilla, winter spices, charred oak, and toasted sugar, unhindered by singular flavor additions. We hope you enjoy Minutiae in good company and in good spirits

2021 vintage. Pitch black with a brown ring. Barrel forward nose with big dark chocolate, smoky earth, leather, char, dried date, and a kiss of vanilla in the nose, reminds me of what bourbon county used to aspire to. Taste adds faint caramelized nuts, barrel amplifies everything wonderfully but is pretty warm. Feel starts more rugged but sweetens up and smooths out, barrel omnipresent, clean finish, fun to follow the motion, rich yet sneaky dry. Would age this a year if I had a bottle to do so with

Released 11/21/20; drank 11/28/20 @ Hannah & Kenser's.
Jet black appearance.
Very little dark tan head; almost no lace.
Burnt caramel, dark chocolate, fresh earth & oak notes in the nose.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Boozy up front; plenty of whiskey heat.
Dark chocolate & burnt caramel are there too, but the wood comes on strong as this warms.
Overall not as nuanced as I would have liked; it's big & bold, and certainly enjoyable, however.
