Black IPA with Simcoe and Amarillo hops.
This small batch IPA was brewed with debittered black malt for intense dark brown, near black color with restrained dark malt flavor and a splash of crystal rye and oats for creaminess and subtle sweetness. Hopped intensely with Amarillo and Simcoe for a big hit of citrus and pine.
A beautiful IPA built for winter and made to drink like our west coast inspired pale ales - bitter, big hop aromatics and refreshing.

Aroma is hops and sweet bread/toast/hint of roasted malts. The flavor is roasted malts, fruit, a hint of chocolate and a very bitter hop/dry finish.

Released 3/3/22; drank 3/15/22 @ the Yarchives.
Black/brown appearance.
A violent pour yielded a huge, noisy tan head; a thick curtain of lace.
Medium roast coffee bean & orange citrus notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Medium roast coffee bean & orange citrus flavors up front; dry yeast & faint booze heat notes on the finish.
Nice black IPA vibes; it will please fans of the style but not convert anyone.

Served from the can in a Gale Sayers shaker pint glass.
Been a minute since my last black IPA, here's hopin' it's a good one. It pours a deep midnight brown topped by a finger of light sandstone foam. The nose comprises pine resin, light grapefruit peel, a hint of flowers, and a strong backbone of roasted malts. The taste brings in more of the same, though much of the resin has been replaced with some surprisingly bright orange zest, helping maintain an impeccable balance between the hops and the roast. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a mildly drying finish. Overall, one of the better black IPAs I've yet had, one whose balance allows for a high level of drinkability. Not bad at all.

Had this back to back with a Bells Black Heart and the MI blows it away. The smell is classic black IPA hop. The real kicker here though is the creamy mouthfeel and perfect hop bite. I would say if you don’t like the style, you won’t like this beer, but it’s world class in the style. I hope they make it regularly
