Draft at brewery. Medium amber with small, but lasting, creamy head. Mild hoppy aroma, caramel malts. Taste amps up both the hops and malts, bittersweet, finishes with a lingering bite. Pretty good stuff.

On tap at the source, Garden City ID.
Pours clear orange with minimal head...tangerine and notes of earthy pine on the nose, maybe grapefruit as well...on the palate, moderate bitterness, orange and tangerine and grapefruit/grapefruit pith...pine...more bitterness on the finish...lighter/medium body and a decent drinking IPA.

i have mixed feelings about this one, i like it being a little lighter and more clean and refined than many of their other hoppy beers, and i like its focus on idaho ingredients, but the beer just isnt all that great, increasingly well made, but generic. it has a weird bitter bite that comes on way too early, and while i like to pungent hop nose, the nuances of these cool hops dont come through in the flavor as well as they should, and this, overall, is a continuation of these guys not sucking but not being awesome either. i can appreciate the hops as being cool in the aroma, and i like the freshness of the malt, these are both great features, but the flavor just kind of stagnates a little bit, balanced but in an unexciting way, like the local malt doesnt contribute anything new to me, and frankly, the hops are tamer than the nose suggests they will be. some lemongrass, culinary herbs, some apple element, citrus too, fruit salad i guess, but more like chain hotel continental breakfast fruit salad than something heady you might make yourself on a tropical vacation, if you get what im saying here. a touch of sweetness, a lighter mouthfeel but still some maltiness, decent carbonation but a funny aftertaste, a quick chemical flash, there are some real highs in this one, but its just not quite there yet for me. still, better than many of their other hoppy offerings to date.
