a transplant from texas from what i understand, and a fine lager, now being made here and seemingly pushed pretty hard. its a bright golden beer from the tap, with a tall white head and great clarity, a shade deeper and richer looking than most of these, and with lots of little bubbles rising up the whole time, pretty glass of lager for sure. the aroma here is pretty minimal, not much yeast character on it, a definite vein of sweetness, and a simple cerealy grain base thats just a touch more substantial than most, but not all pils malt or anything, more of a basic pale two row complexion to me, but very fresh and in balance and all. the flavor is kind of the same, sweetness is what i taste the first and the most, but not because its overly sweet, but because there is a relative absence of other flavors. just a faint bittering hop at the very end, a minimal lager yeast character thats well behind the pale grain, and none of the brisk minerality some of these have. its not flawed or anything, no metallic character here, no weird fermentation byproducts, but it isnt real dynamic on the palate. there is a weight to this that doesnt make sense, especially with the low abv and all, and it doesnt seem to all come from the sweetness thats here, but this has a lot of body for what it is, and drinks heavy, warms up even heavier, and isnt as light and refreshing as i hoped it would be. i dont mind a lager thats a little bigger, but i want the heft to come with some additional flavor, and thats just not the case here. pretty clean in the end, well carbonated and refined, and not bad at all, but i dont know that its good enough to become a fridge beer in my house...
