a pretty well done oatmeal stout, with coffee added. they have a little cafe in their brewery here, not sure if they are roasting beans or not, but suffice it to say the coffee in here is local and fresh and of high quality, it really comes through in the beer. the base beer, which i have not tried on its own, appears to be a somewhat lighter stout, not as heavy in body, not as deep in roast, which lets the coffee be more present throughout this one, and i think its a nice fit. the coffee isnt such a deep roast, more of a cocoa complexion rather than a deep bitterness or anything, which kind of matches what is going on with the malt. nuances of roasted nuts, unsweetened chocolate, and the earthy oats supporting it all. smooth mouthfeel with a lighter body for the style and a pretty dry finish, light smoke, raisin, and mild coffee acidity at the end. cool beer, id like to try the regular monday morning stout too. this might be my favorite beer i have had from these guys so far, i havent really liked the hoppy ones much, but this is very good!
