Taster at brewery. Purple colored pour, scant pinkish head. Earthy, sweet, fruity aroma. Taste is much more subdued. Light sweet notes, berries, bready.

its beers like this that have kept me from being a huge fan of these guys, even though their popularity and reputation have been growing at an absurd rate. this just isnt very good. it has a lot of haze to it, a deep violet color from the tap, but just looks murky and raw to me. the aroma is okay, i get the sweeter huckleberry in front of the blueberry, a blackberry jam character and light black currant tang, some wheat evident too in the nose, and a weird yeast ester that really doesnt belong in here. the flavor is not as good as the nose, there is an almost chemical property to the finish that makes it seem cheap, even though the fruit part is pretty good. i get both huckleberry and blueberry for sure, a little sweet but natural enough. the wheat is fine too, maybe a little raw, but good to me. the yeast and the fermentation are whack though, metallic and odd in the end, this in a style where i want a pretty neutral ferment, it gets worse as it warms, and makes the whole thing seem amateur and heavy to me. for a brewery growing this fast, they had better keep a closer eye on quality, this really isnt there. its a beer and a style that could do well for them, but this needs some series touching up to warrant any further distribution as far as i am concerned...
