Review 1498
First review from Western Collective. I did tick one of their beer on Untapped, it was a less than stellar Imperial Stout. This big AVB stout hopefully redeems the other beer I tried. The artwork on the label is of a ski slope, not sure how I would find a hidden lake in the wintertime. Anyways, moving on with the review. This beer is served in a tulip at 50 degrees. The pour created a massive three-fingered head with averaged retention. The head dissipated slowly left a lot of lacing on the glass. The medium tan head is airy, foamy, and creamy. The beer is dark as the ace of spade, charting around SRM 30. The beer is above average for this style.
The initial aromas in the beer are milk chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. Nosing further in the glass, I detect sugar, lactose, molasses, raisins, caramel, toffee, Maillard, subtle floral esters, and a smidge of solvent.
The flavors are milk chocolate, medium roasted coffee, roasted malts, fire, smoke, Maillard, floral esters, cereal grains, caramel, toffee, earthiness, milk, molasses, and tobacco.
The mouthfeel is creamy, chewy, yet dry.
The body of the beer is medium, medium-low carbonation, and fuller finish.
The hiccup I have with this beer is the harmony of the flavors. I love beer that is hard to discern what flavors are in there and present a challenge for me to name. Each sip I get something different. a little smoke here, a touch of fire there, and chocolate. The alcohol is noticeable too, I have had monster beers north of 15 percent and they do not drink like that. For Imperial Milk stout is average. I did not care for the creamy yet dry mouthfeel. I want it to be silky smooth all the way through. I would consume this beer again, it is not bad just average.

16oz can from Boise Coop. Dark brown, some light coming through, tiny ring of head. Chocolaty aroma, milky. More milk chocolate in the taste, not boozy at all.

16oz canned fairly recently, poured into a nonic.
A: Jet-black pour shows some tan sediment in the glass; dark khaki head fizzles away at a moderate speed.
S: Huge notes of milk chocolate and moderate sweetness, lactose and vanilla; moderate roastiness and coffee aromas as well.
T: Absolutely a ton of milk chocolate here, this thing lands as an Imperial Milk Chocolate Stout; chocolate, cocoa, mocha, vanilla, coffee, roast.
MF: Creamy, velvety, rich, full-bodied, lower carbonation, fluffy.
O: Superb offering here, its pretty big and decadent but never cloying to me; just enough balance of roast.
