Fairly clear ruddy orange with nice, but restrained, creamy beige head. Nose is caramel malt-heavy with some nuttiness and a looming warm earthiness from the pepper. The taste is less cloying and "pepperier" than the aroma would lead you to believe. Nutty, black tea, earthy pepper pop at the end that settles into a lingering tingle about 5 seconds after each sip. The mouthfeel is great, the highlight in fact. It is well-carbonated and on the drier side. The nose led me to believe it would be sweeter. If it had been, I would have liked it less. And then there's the pepper addition! It is fairly aggressively peppery compared to other black pepper beers I've tried (admittedly only 2 or 3). I don't think ive knowingly had green pepper (what's in this beer), but it reminds me a bit of the sort of feeling eating szechuam pepper (which is not true pepper). To Wikipedia I go!
It gives you a shimmering warmth throughout the pint. An interesting, decent beer. A funky twist of bygone era in a style of a bygone er.

A- Brown and clear with a thin head.
S - Spices are the dominant aroma but we can smell hints of caramel.
T - As for the smell, we can clearly taste the spices. Behind that flavour, we can taste moderate caramel aroma and floral hops.
O - Good beer, but a little bit to spicy for me.
