Saison XLII is a hop-forward farmhouse ale brewed with 100% New England grown barley, wheat, and spelt, along with Meridian® and Four Star Farms Crystal hops. Fermented dry with a notable French ale strain and lightly dry hopped. Notes of bright lemon, grapefruit pith, and freshly cut grass, with a touch of pink peppercorn and a dry finish.

Pours a pale golden, pillow white head. Some lemon, saltine cracker, and maybe a little bit of plain old Soft Soap. There's certainly a nice malt backbone to it, more of the saltine, water cracker variety than the buttery Ritz. The Spelt especially shines here too. Some lemon verbana and sage. A light phenol note. Dry. Just a good saison.

Pours a very pale straw yellow with a bit of chill haze, two plus fingers of long lasting pillowy white head, and lots of lacing. Aroma is lemony, peppery, maybe a little grainy; all medium intensity. Taste starts lemony then has a black pepper spiciness. Finish is dry and a bit bitter and peppery. Medium-light body and high carbonation. Another tasty saison from Amory’s Tomb. Aromas/flavors are all moderate in intensity and well balanced.
