12 ounce can - $2.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours nearly clear with an orange-golden body. Half-inch high layer of near white foam.
Smell: Tart, lightly nostril-stinging aroma with some lighter, hop-derived citrusy, tropical tones for an altogether tangy nose.
Taste: Minimally malty, with just some scant background breadiness, grain. Immediately, there's a broadening acidity, seemingly citrusy and a bit lactic. Subtler floral, tropical, citrus fruit accents. Modestly bitter. Hop qualities soon roll back, leaving just a standard sour base beer leading to the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: So-so. I feel some of these hybrid styles are rather tricky to pull off well. Kettle sours are quick and easy, dumping hops into a fermenter is a no-brainer. However, you've got to nail an excellent sour, add appealing hop characters, though eschewing overwhelming bitterness while managing to harmonize the flavors.
