Brewing as many new NEIPAs as we do, we get to try something new all the time. This time we went with a new yeast blend and completely reshuffled water profile that enabled us to achieve an even smoother than usual texture with more pronounced hopiness. To create an adequate hop aroma we relied on Cryo Simcoe teaming up with three more expressive hops from all around the world, and yes, it seems to work out very, very well!

Pours a hazy, dark orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and tropical/citrus hops, with notes of guava and tangerine. Taste is a decent balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, floral, soapy hops, with tropical and citrus notes iof guava and tangerine, as well as a certain floral/soapy aftertaste that is not all that pleasant. Finishes with a light bitterness and some tangerine, guava and floral/soapy notes lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While their West Coast IPA was still all right, this NEIPA is less so, to be honest. I mean, it's not terrible, but it's not particularly enjoayble either, lacking that juicy, vibrant and well-defined hop character that I expect from the style. There's some citrus zest and hints of tropical notes here, but they feel kinda washed out, and overshadowed by an overly floral, almost soapy presence, while the mouthfeel completely lacks that soft, pillowy feel expected from the style as well. Overall, this makes for a drinkable, but subpar example of the style that completely lacks its most distinguishing features.
