Collaboration with Barona Brewing Company.
Knowing that we’ll be pouring beer with the guys from Barona on ArtBeerFest in Caminha, we wanted to brew a proper summer festival beer. Easy-going, bitter and fruity, Lost in Transit refers to the difficult journey beer needs to take while moving between Portugal and Czechia. (if it eventually makes it to the western coast of Europe in time), both the festival-goers and the rest of the European crowd should be treated to the trans-Pacific combo of Chinook, Amarillo and Nelson on a drinkable platform of floor-malted pilsner malt with rye. Clean and bitter, with all the fruity notes we tend to enjoy on a sunny day, this one should hit the spot.

Pours a slightly cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of biscuity malt and citrus and berry hops, with notes of grapefruit and white grape, with just a hint of pine as well. Taste is a great balance of biscuity malt and fruity, slightly floral, resinous and spicy hops, with citrus and berry notes of grapefruit and white grape as well as hints of peppery spice and pine also coming through. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit, white grape and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
I'm really not sure why they are calling this a "Session" IPA at 5.4%, but it certainly makes for a nice Rye Pale Ale. You get that certain peppery spice from the rye, which goes great with the spicy accents from Chinook and Nelson, which also lend their typical grapefruit, pine and white grape character to this, while Amarillo provides more citrus and that certain floral character that I'm not too keen on personally, but thankfully remains largely in the background here.
