This IPA is a traditional style with the use of English hops. Crisp, clean bitterness up front, but quite smooth with spicy & floral characteristics. Finishes dry. East Kent Goldings & Northern Brewer Hops

Taster at brewery. Malty through and through, nice bitter bite at the end. Pretty much true to form. Clear, medium amber, nice lacing. Light smoky aroma. Taste is malts and hops, favoring the malts.

Deep amber or mahogany in color with a frothy off-white head. Bready, toasty malt, a little caramel and earthy/spicy hops in the nose. Flavor is woody with a date-like sweetness. Finish is bitter and earthy with black tea-like tannins. Alcohol flavor seems too strong for the ABV. Aftertaste and lingering bitterness are unpleasant.

From notes taken 11/14/16:
From can to pint glass. Nice amber, tones of peach and orange and mostly clear with tiny suspended fleks. Thick, foamy head of light yellow, with excellent retention. Very lacey. Sweet fruit aromas, but not really distinct or strong, stone fruit of some sort seems closest. Light soapiness and grassiness in there as well, even some alcohol. Palate seems old, or less than fresh. I noticed this with White Dog’s canned beers, the Scotch and the Blonde. They were all fresh when I bought them. I can only hope these are better on tap and White Dog will eventually address this issue in their canned products, whatever it may be. That said, it is still drinkable and somewhat good. The hops and malt both seem partly deteriorated, but I detect flavors of caramel, harsh grain, grass, stone fruit. And then, strong, bitter soap. My favorite part is a barely noticeable suggestion of dark tea. But in general, the flavor is a little too much for me, possibly a poor balance, even apart from apparent lack of freshness (here, compare to just about any IPA or Pale Ale that you let go at least a couple months past it’s drink by date...am I the only one who occasionally does this?). Medium-bodied, watery at first but soon thick with sloshy and prickly suds.
