This ain't a dunkel. It ain't even a lager, folks. (Colorado doesn't brew lagers.) It is a rich, robust Irish-style red ale. Hazy amber, fantastic appealing malt aroma. Big malt bite right off the bat, a bit more assertive than many red ales which are habitually low-key. Some raw intriguing qualities of wood and meat. Hops come on nicely, they do just the right amount of spicing and leave a good crisp dryness at the end. Otherwise the finish is a little lacklustre compared to the excellent beginning. I noted a bit of sourness hidden deep down in the flavor profile, along with some vinegar qualities. Not enough to keep this beer from being an enjoyable experience, but just enough to keep it from being a top-notch brew.

Beautiful red color, with a cream head that was pretty thick. Good lacing and the smell and taste similar to Killians only a little more malt. I've had this beer a few times and it is generally consistent.
