a very basic wit here, not my favorite beer i had in here, i love drier and more refined in this style, and this seemed a little amateurish to me, especially as it warmed up a little bit. its a familiar and even subtle belgian yeast strain here, but it seems stressed to me, fermented too warm perhaps, slightly phenolic, on the north end of estery, banana and clove spice sure, but it also is slightly soapy and milky and raw. its got some haziness to it, a tad dull looking, and without the big puffy white head i usually look for in the style. there is a nose of green pear and cotton candy, unmalted white wheat, and lemon, summery but kind of messy too. the flavor is like a grain soup on the malt side, fuller feeling and earthy, the yeast really flavors this a lot, but its not clean, fortunately its still pretty light overall, but this twang from the ferment stays with me. it lacks the carbonation i want in the style, it lacks the refreshment value, and its not as fast finishing as it should be, stays with me a bit. not their best work, not bad either, but some cleaning up would improve this a lot. it should feel light and bright and dry, the wheat should be tidy and the yeast should come down a notch...

edit: this has improved slightly in one year, a little cleaner and not quite so high tone. still not dialed to me, but its noticeably better, more refreshing and drinkable as a result, and they have an apricot version now which really makes this pop. still a bit overly malty to me, but nice to see the fast improvement on this one. improving scores slightly...
